“How will I vape?” Flashes of TSA agents and handcuffs cross your mind, which you then start to debate, “Should I smuggle this in my carry-on?” Chances are you won’t alert authorities to a potential weapon in your suitcase, but you might run into some trouble if you don’t pack correctly.
We’re here to clear the air and tell you how to turn your vacation to a vapecation!
Batteries
Carry on luggage only
Must be removed from the device and put into a special battery case
With fears of batteries being faulty and vapes exploding, a law was passed in 2015 banning batteries from being packed in checked luggage.
Mods
Carry on & checked luggage
Remove any tanks, cartridges, or RDAs
If carrying your mod on the plane with you, you’ll be prompted to have your device scanned by TSA. Remove anything that would attach to it, and remove the batteries before placing it into the basket.
Juice
Carry on & checked luggage
Less than 100mL (3oz)
Placed in a clear plastic zip-top bag
We recommend bringing plastic bottles, and only packing what you will absolutely need for your trip. TSA’s protocol says that when you isolate liquids in a plastic bag, the screening process goes much smoother.
Tanks & RDAs
Carry on & checked luggage
Remove all components from your device before flying
Make sure you empty and clean these out before flying. We recommend traveling with these items in your carry-on, with pressure changes and rough handling of luggage, things are likely to be cracked or broken.
Pods/Cartridges/AIO devices
Carry on & checked luggage
Remove pod/cartridge before flying
It’s smart to bring the branded box that your device originally came in so that it’s easy to identify as an ecigarette and eliminates the possibility of any questions or concerns.
For the builders
Put tools to build coils in your checked luggage
It’s more than likely that your bag will be searched if you carry these on with you. Eliminate the possibility of missing your flight because TSA decided to stop you!
No vaping on the plane
Don’t do it!!!
Take it from the pilot who vaped and descended the plane 20,000 feet within minutes. People are on edge about this kind of stuff, so be smart people. Don’t vape on the plane!
NOTE: Every airlines is different and may differ from these rules (except for no vaping on the plane – that’s still a law). It’s best to double and triple check this information with your booked airline provider to eliminate any confusion. Only vape in designated smoking areas as that is still pretty regulated.
Also, please note that this information is for people living in the United States ONLY. If you’re traveling internationally, make sure you check the laws of the country you’re traveling to! Some countries have a strict ban on vapes and ejuice that could land you in big trouble. See if your destination is on the list.
